On the basis of standard box-type substation, the main incoming switch at LV side and outgoing isolating switch at LV side are deleted, and outgoing lines at LV side are reduced to 4 circuits, the compensation capacitor is reduced to no more than 4 circuits, and the compensation capacity is reduced to 15% of the rated capacity of the transformer. Based on the above design, a compact box-type substation is formed, which can be used in the area with limited installation and construction site space.

Standardized design shall be carried out according to the maximum shape (length × width), transformer capacity 630kVA and ring network scheme, and the transformer capacity 400kVA, 500kVA and terminal scheme shall be compatible. The height of 400kVA, 500kVA and 630kVA boxes is 2100 mm. Meanwhile, the appearance of metal and non-metallic boxes is the same. Based on the above principles, the compact box transformer can be interchanged as a whole.
